Home at last! I need a few days to get organized and finish this blog series. Got off the ship at 8:15 AM and went through customs and immigration. Then went looking for the FedEx truck and the tour bus for a tour along the inter coastal waterway. Got my bags loaded on the truck, got on the bus and waited for about 45 minutes till the next person arrived. We had one passenger who was in a wheel chair and needed to have his chair lifted into the bus. That when the fun began …
The chair lift got stuck which made the bus immovable. It took them another hour to fix the lift while we were waiting for another bus.First the tour was cancelled. Then, they got the bus lift fixed before the replacement bus arrived. Then half the tour was back on with a refund for the difference. (the tour was to replace my sitting at the airport for 5 hours) The tour went well, we were transported to the airport. When checked in I found that my flight to Chicago was delayed 3 hours so I would miss my connecting flight to Reno. I was rerouted through Dallas, but had another 3 hours to wait in Ft Lauderdale. In Dallas the connecting flight was delayed. So, got home at midnight instead of the original 9:00PM.
My next entry will start with the port call to Durban, South Africa and onward.
