Up early today to take part in the sail-in. This would have been fantastic if it were not overcast. I was hoping for a sunrise as we passed under the Harbor Bridge, but no such luck! I did get some nice pictures of the Sydney Opera House and the Harbor Bridge as we passed underneath. We arrived in Sidney at the White Bay Cruise Terminal in Darling Harbor. It is about 30-45 minutes by car from Circular Quay area of downtown Sydney. Event though the ship docked at 7 AM we had to go through a sight immigration inspection. I was in the last group and went through at around 9.45AM. I caught the shuttle bus to don town and decided to go see the Opera House first. It was a very informative and interesting tour. We were not allowed to take pictures in any of the stages/theaters. We did get a chance to sea and hear the Symphony Orchestra rehearse. After the the tour, I grabbed a bite to eat and turned on my computer to catch up on the updates and upload a lot of the bog pages that I could not on the ship. That took the better part of 2 hours! I then did a walking tour or the Rock area of Sydney. Stopped into the “Fortunes of War Pub” –oldest pub in Sydney, for a local beer. After more walking, it was off to catch the shuttle back to the ship for the the day.
The next day I decided to climb to the Harbor Bridge Pillar for a view of the city and pictures. The top of the pillar is only a few feet shorter that the top of the bridge. I opted for the pillar climb instead of the bridge climb, because one is not allowed to take pictures during the bridge climb or on top of the bridge. A picture of you would be taken for you – for a price of course! After that, I got some lunch and then took a ferry over to Manly and walk around for a while. I also wanted to get a look of Bondi Beach but time was running out and I made the last shuttle to the ship. Off to Brisbane!
